Our Story

Building Bridges, Creating Opportunities

Norwalk Sister City was born from a simple belief: that people-to-people connection can bridge cultures and build peace, one relationship at a time. Since our founding, we've partnered with the community of Nagarote, Nicaragua, supporting education and opportunity for children who need it most.

Our Mission

Turning Connection into Lasting Change

We believe that real, lasting change begins with human connection. Through education, collaboration, and shared purpose, we work to break cycles of poverty and open doors for those who need them most, proving that small, local actions can contribute to something far greater: a more connected and peaceful world.

Empowering communities through education, opportunity, and connection.

The Norwalk Educational Center

Located in Nagarote, Nicaragua, the Norwalk Educational Center is our flagship project — a school dedicated to providing quality, inclusive education to children from 3 to 12 years old. Serving 216 families across preschool and primary levels, the school operates two daily shifts to maximize its reach within the community.

Since its founding, the center has been committed to supporting families with limited economic resources, offering over 70 scholarships each academic year. Beyond academics, the school embraces a participatory learning approach that actively involves families in their children's development — because education doesn't stop at the classroom door.

Testimonials

Voices from our community that inspire us to keep going

I want to express my deepest gratitude to Norwalk Education Center for the incredible support our family has received. As a low-income family, having access to quality education without financial burden has been a true blessing.
Since joining Norwalk, my child has changed tremendously — once shy and afraid to speak up, now confident and comfortable expressing ideas. That growth is thanks to the support of dedicated teachers and the school's approach.
Norwalk has inspired me too. Seeing the teachers' dedication motivated me to resume my own studies and pursue a career in education. I'm grateful for how this school has shaped my family's future.
